May the Force Be with You: Measuring Strength in Prevention Screening, Rehabilitation and Performance Training

This 8 hour course will review objective measurements of force and workload in clinical practice. Participants will apply principles of force, torque, load, rate of force development, kinematics, and kinetics while examining the limitations of manual muscle testing. Emphasis is placed on the selection and implementation of reliable technologies—including dynamometry, force plates, load cells, strain gauges, wearable devices, and validated mobile applications—to guide differential diagnosis and treatment planning. Attendees will integrate objective data into clinical decision-making, design progressive loading programs, and use quantified workload metrics to safely progress patients toward return to sport, work, and prior levels of activity.
